Candidates 2007
Julian Cook, Founder & Managing Director Flybaboo
Before creating his own company, Flybaboo, in 2002, Julian Cook has always been an aviation lover. Flybaboo operates scheduled daily services in Europe, seasonal Summer flights and charter services. Its main bases are Geneva International Airport and Lugano Airport. Julian Cook’s passion led him to create a new and personalised way of travelling low-cost from Geneva.

Julian Cook has been actively involved in the airline industry since he joined The Chase Manhattan Bank's Aerospace Group in 1995. He was involved in aircraft financing, airline privatisation & restructuring and M&A transactions. In 1999, Julian Cook worked for Southern Winds, a regional airline in Argentina founded in 1996. He worked closely with the CEO in raising equity and on strategic issues. In 2000, he founded Newlines Airways Ltd., a UK based start-up airline that aimed at the transatlantic business market. Following the economic slowdown in 2001 and the events in September 2001, the company had to be closed and the project abandoned. In October 2002, Julian co-founded Baboo SA, a Geneva based company specialised in music production. Julian Cook holds a Bsc. Economics from the London School of Economics and an MBA from the Columbia Business School.

It all started on 11th of July 2003 when Swiss Air Lines announced they were going to abandon the Geneva-Lugano route at the end of October. That day was the start of Flybaboo. Flybaboo is a regional airline based in Geneva, Switzerland. It operates scheduled services in Europe, seasonal summer flights and charter services. Its main bases are Geneva Cointrin International Airport and Lugano Airport.
